I was supposed to spend some time cleaning the dojo this weekend, but VP was so disorganized that we didn't accomplish anything at all. She was late, didn't have a to-do list, didn't have the materials for the things she wanted us to do. We ended up pissing around with a time-consuming repair task that we don't actually have the knowledge or material to do properly - sewing the holes in the crash mats - so the work we did do will probably come apart as soon as it gets used. She seemed to think I would be willing to stay all day, but I bowed out at 11 AM, saying I had stuff to do. I got up at 6:30 for that?

It feels kind of silly to still be annoyed about it a couple days later, but it ate up a lot of my precious free time in order to accomplish absolutely jack shit, and now here I am on Monday morning wishing I didn't have to go to work because I lost out on part of my weekend. I really, really hate it when people waste my time.

On the upside, I do think I managed to get it through to her in our discussion that I am not that dedicated and that judo is not my life. I have other hobbies. I'm trying to cut back and do less. If she wants capital C level of Commitment in terms of volunteering for the club, she will have to look to the competitors and their parents, because I am not going to do that.

Today I cleaned, went to my massage appointment, dropped my autumn coat off at the tailor's for repairs, and went to the judo club annual general meeting. (And I also managed to find time to paint my nails.)

The massage was interesting. Mostly it was a standard type, but it also incorporated Thai-style massage elements, where the massage therapist moves parts of your body into various positions. I kind of liked it, though if I were a less flexible person I think I might have found it challenging. Not sure if I will book that type again, though. I'm more of a full-throttle deep tissue kind of person.

The general meeting wasn't much of note. We discussed some fundraising. And also there'll be some stuff going on in December - cleaning up the dojo, also a christmas party. It was pointed out we should probably have the party before we do the cleaning.

I took yesterday off. I had to go to an optometrist appointment, and I decided to just take the whole day rather than doing a partial schedule.

The optometrist said that my eyes are healthy and that I don't need to change the prescription for my driving glasses.

I had choice paralysis about what to do with the rest of my day. So I ended up doing a bunch of errands. Then I came home and read for a while. It wasn't the most exciting day, but it wasn't bad.

And then in the evening I went to see the Irish Descendants' Christmas Concert with my parents.

Today, I got a hair cut. I haven't had my hair cut since April, and it really needed it. They took 3.5 inches off and probably could have done a little more. The stylist noted that they don't usually get people in with hair as healthy as mine.

Then in the afternoon I went to another free Pride yoga class. I ended up buying a 5-class punch pass to that studio. It isn't close to my house, but they have a nice setup, and I think I want to try out a bunch of different kinds of classes to see what I like best. Now that I'm not doing Saturday judo, I have some more options.

The class itself was quite nice. More challenging than the previous one. We did some poses I'm familiar with, and some that were new to me. It did reinforce my suspicions that I really should work on my balance and also strengthen my feet, 'cause I did have some difficulty with some things.

And then this evening I made some chicken coconut curry and it turned out really well. Instead of using 2 spoons of sweet yellow curry powder, I did 1 of sweet yellow and 1 of vindaloo mix, and also some turmeric and cinnamon. Plus also mustard seed and panch poran. Very very nice, would make it like that again. Glad it worked out, 'cause I do want to use the vindaloo mix more; it's not one I reach for often.

Tomorrow I have a massage appointment in the afternoon, and then at 5 is the judo club annual general meeting. I should have thought this out better; I don't know if I'll be able to get all of my chores done before the massage appointment. And I don't know if I'll have time to come home between the time that it's finished and the time the meeting starts. Normally I'm in my PJs by 5PM... and I have no idea what to do about supper. Should I pick up something at Subway or what? I have no idea how long this thing will even be.

It's not the end of the world, but it's mildly annoying. I hope I'll be able to get everything figured out. I probably won't have time to paint my nails tomorrow, though.

I found a very interesting article on judo in Lethbridge: here. For a while I've been wondering why Lethbridge is such a powerhouse in Canadian Judo; after reading that, it all makes sense. Dedication and passion going back decades, and a really strong Japanese base!
