Judo adventures 4.51
May. 4th, 2026 11:11 pmAttending: Me, Eth, Mo, G, Ma & Jo & Ge, Br, and two new guys, Moh and Kee. TN-sensei instructing and Ry-sensei assisting.
We worked on osotogari today, since we had two new people. It was Kee's second class, and Moh is a yellowbelt who has had to take a year or so off.
TN-sensei taught us a technique to do osotogari even when someone is stiff-arming you. Instead of placing your foot parallell to theirs, you place it maybe halfway. Then you reeeach and hook with your other foot, the one that will do the reaping. This will get you close enough that you can hop (and hop and hop) and then eventually get close enough to complete the throw. You can also do this if you are a right-hander fighting against a left-handed person.
It's hard to achieve that technique, but it is a possibility to do it.
Moh is pretty good, even if he is out of practice. He has a nice strong lift!
I picked up my raffle tickets. Meh.
