Judo adventures 4.43
Apr. 12th, 2026 01:00 pmAttending: Me, G & her sister Es, Eth & Eth's brother. T-sensei instructing.
This weekend was provincials, and many people were down in Calgary attending that. So T-sensei decided to offer a kata class instead of the open mat. It was around 1PM rather than the 10AM usual time, which honestly works out better for me because I prefer to use the morning to do chores.
Anyway.
Me and Eth were the only ones who had previously done any kata; it was new to the other three.
We ran through the first two forms for kata. We didn't get to the third because it's a bit more complex, too much for the kids to take in at once.
T-sensei said that we'll probably be doing another class next week. The competitors will be available at that time, so it'll be nice to have some adults in the class.
I saw a notice that TN-sensei is offering private lessons. I actually am considering it. But I'm unsure what would be involved. The price is expensive but not too bad, about what I would expect to pay. The question is, would I actually benefit from it? I feel like I could use some direct instruction and correction, but I don't know if one lesson would be enough to do it, and I can't realistically afford more than one per month.
