Fics for the Multifandom Drabble Exchange have been revealed! Yay! The collection for this round has over 330 fandoms, wow.

I wrote two works:

☆ Borrowing a Door for Fencesit. The Witch Door, Katariina/Tzofiya, 400 words, G/0+. Snapshots in the course of a relationship.

☆ Happenstance for laughs_in_distortion. The Magnus Archives, Gerry Keay & Michael Distortion, 100 words, G/0+. Gerry has a chance encounter after acquiring a Leitner through dubious means.

And I received two Magnus Archives works! Voila:

☆ Wasteland Waiting by LookingForDroids. Adelard Dekker, 100 words, G/0+. A fragmentary audio recording, found among the personal effects of one Gertrude Robinson.

☆ My heart is thrilled by the still of your hand (It's how I know now that you understand) by laughs_in_distortion. Sasha James/Michael Distortion, 200 words, T. Sasha thinks of her encounter with Michael.

There were a lot of TMA fics in the collection for this round, and I enjoyed all of them (except the one that I didn't read due to spoilers).

Of the fics that weren't written for me, my favourite was:

☆ Memento Mori by LookingForDroids. Original statement giver, 300 words, G/0+. Statement of Sarah Chandler, regarding an archaeological text.

This weekend, I just kind of went nope. Get any of my creative projects done? NOPE. Do anything that requires brain power? NOPE. Did get the cleaning done though, so there is that. I think maybe my body was just protesting after I had to drag myself out of bed at 6 AM on Saturday to go to work. And there was more snow today! Which of course didn't help.

Signups are open for multifandomdrabble! (Details). From now until May 01. Already got my signup in! And I might add another fandom or two, though I haven't decided what. (VME? Promare? Something totally random, like Fortitude? Who knows!)

And I made a cake! With rosewater (and I added some cardamom too). This 'Syrian coffee loaf' recipe that was recently posted at cookbook_challenge. It turned out all right; don't know if I'll make this one again, but I do think I'll experiment more with rosewater desserts. It's such a delicate and elegant flavouring, and not one that I've played with much.

☆ Soooo, I signed up for iddyiddybangbang. Basically, this is a fest where you write something for yourself - something that pushes all of your buttons in exactly the right way. :D WIPs are allowed, so long as they haven't been posted anywhere before, so I'm going to be using this as an opportunity to finish a NorIce fic that I drafted quite a while ago and didn't finish. Should be fun! There are still a few days left to sign up if anyone wants to join me. :)

☆ Fics have been revealed for this year's second round of multifandomdrabble. Yay! I'm looking forward to browsing the collection; looks like there are some neat things in there.

☆ I went to my brother's place for a barbecue last night. It was rather difficult pretending to be a normal human being for the span of a couple hours, but I did it! His new house is very nice - he moved in a few weeks ago - and I'm honestly rather jealous. Unfortunately, I'll never be able to afford anything like it, but... ah, well, I'll just try to be happy for him.

☆ Norwegian is continuing to kick my ass. I'm trying to pace myself, and review a lot, but it's still not getting much easier, and grasping new things is hard. It's entirely possible that it's just because my memory is shit, though. And also I don't have much time to study when I'm properly awake. OH WELL. Best I can do is just... keep trying. :V

☆ "I will only take one one book from the library this week," I tell myself. And then I come home with five. Oh boy. Well, in my defence, I'm trying to fill out some of the categories in my reading challenge, so. Said library haul is thus:

+ Hymnswitch by Ali Blythe. Canadian poetry. I've read another collection by this poet before; Twoism. While it wasn't a favourite, I do remember feeling mostly positive about it. We'll see what this latest one is like.

+ Fall From Grace by Wayne Arthurson. Mystery novel, Canadian author (he's from Edmonton! :D :D) Never read anything by this guy before, but it's been a while since I've read some good crime. We'll see how this goes.

+ The Green Hotel by Jesse Gilmour. I was intrigued by this one because it's a really slim volume. The author is mainly a playwright, so I'm interested to see whether that has an influence on his writing. The back describes the novel as a "gritty look at Toronto"... uh. I don't know if I'll like it, but eh, I'm curious.

+ The Case Against Owen Williams by Allan Donaldson. Murder mystery set in New Brunswick during WWII. Neat!

+ Take Us To Your Chief by Drew Hayden Taylor. Science fiction short stories, FN author. Enjoyed one of his previous works, so I'm really looking forward to this one. :)

☆ raremaleslashex is in nom stages right now, and will be until May 19th. I've had fun with this exchange in the past, but looking at the schedule... man, I don't know if I'd be able to squeeze this in. Is anybody thinking of doing this one?

☆ parallelsfic is an exchange for fic/art of rare fandoms from Asian sources. The schedule is up now; looks like the ball will get rolling in June. Had a good time with it last year, but I don't think I'll be able to sign up this year... Going to keep my eye on the requests, though. Maybe I'll be able to treat somebody?

☆ multifandomdrabble is going to have a round 2 starting in June (according to the schedule). If I do this one, I'll probably just copy my signup details from the previous round, honestly. I still like the same things as I did a few months ago. ;p

☆ NedDen Week will be in July; the prompts are already up. I feel a little bit discouraged, because these seem to lean heavily toward AU-flavoured; not my style. So, I think I won't bother trying to do all of them, not like last year. Probably just the historical prompt. Which is fine, because I will probably need to research for it anyway. (I mean, sure, I could do Battle of the Sound for the Nth time, but I should... probably try something different. ;p )

☆ As far as currently-running fests go... Nordipalooza closes submissions on the 20th and I'm scrambling to get my submission done before the deadline. I have a feeling that most people are going to submit their work on the last day, as usual, but it would be nice if I, as the mod, could at least get my own thing in earlier than that. At least somebody else has managed to finish something! What a relief. xD

Multifandom Drabble doesn't have letters, but I like to keep a record of my requests in my journal. Otherwise, I tend to forget what I've requested.

☆ multifandomdrabble exchange is running again! Looks like there will be two rounds this year. Noms are currently open until the end of March 02. :D I'm looking forward to this. Are any of you thinking about doing it?

☆ fandomtrumpshate charity auction is opening bidding this week! There are one or two days left of the browsing period; you can see all of the offerings over at fth2019offerings. I recommend browsing by tag for that. :D Once bidding is open on the 26th, I'll make a post linking to the entries with my offers and offers from people that I know. I'm so excited for this event, ahh! <3

The heat eased up a little, so today wasn't as uncomfortable as some of the past ones have been.

Shot off an email to an old friend. Unsure if anything will come of that, but we'll see what happens...!

I can hardly wait to get my assignment for multifandomdrabble. Though I also can hardly wait to see what people come up with for me - last year, the fics were so good! It's nice to have assignments for just... you know, bite-sized things.

I was looking through some of my old WIPs and ahhh, so many Hetalia feelings! I still want to finish some of these. Maybe I should... you know. Work on them.

In particular, there's one very long story that I stopped working on because the plot required writing a character that I have a lot of difficulty with. "Hmm, this is challenging - oh well, I'll work on it tomorrow," I said. And then I... didn't. xD

But I still have a lot of my notes for that story, and I think I could finish it, maybe. If I get over the hurdle that is this particular scene. So, maybe I'll work on it. :D Even if it's very niche, it'll be worth it to finish it. (At this point, it's 27.8k, which makes it longer than anything I've ever written.)

Well, autumn sure is over. This snow looks like it's here to stay. It's also fucking cold out - I swear, I'll have to pull my fur hat out of storage before the week's over.

Still, there's such a divine feeling in the air when you're out at night, and it's pitch dark, and there's a carpet of white everywhere, and it's snowing....

I've been out of sorts - I always get that way when holidays fall in the middle of the week - but it's all right. Next week will be better.

Fic rec: Drowning by Filigranka. Slavic mythology, 300 words, Marzanna/Jarilo (and implied Veles/Jarilo), centred around this cyclical triangle of life/death/renewal. NR + CNTW. This was a late Multifandom Drabble gift, and I must say, it was a wonderful surprise... Absolutely beautiful writing here. I will note - Filigranka took all of my dark canon-specific loves and rolled them up into one tightly-packed story, and the result is amazing. And that means it won't be to everyone's taste, but it's definitely worth a read if you aren't easily squicked, or if you happen to be into erotic temporary murder.
