No brains today. Have a meme yoinked from tumblr. :V

1. Three ships: Poland/Estonia, Romania/Bulgaria, and Norway/Romania. All on account of wips that I have percolating (&/or on pause until I find time), though the last one more specifically since someone asked me about it recently. I do have stuff partially finished, anon! Just... no time! (I can't remember how far along I am in the one with the chess game... will have to check.)

2. First ever ship: First ever that I was aware of as a fandom thing was... gosh, probably Zelda/Link? Or maybe Katt/Falco from Star Fox64. Something like that. Too long ago to be sure. :V First ever in my current fandom - that would be LietPol, I think. I still like them!

3. Last song: Tchaikovsky's "Waltz of the Flowers". I've been listening to classical compilations again.

4. Last film: Zimna wojna/Cold War (2018). Visually stunning! Left an impression! I had a lot of feelings about it, and intended to write up a rec post, but I found myself having trouble coming up with things to actually say. It was good/interesting, though.

5. Currently reading: We Were Killers Once by Becky Masterman. Standard thriller; this one involves a cold case. It's one of those books I picked up from the little library. Not amazing, but not bad - I'm enjoying it enough to finish it. (Now, if only I could find the time to finish it...)

6. Currently watching: Still snailing my way through season 01 of Babylon 5. ;~; I really want to watch more! Because I'm really enjoying it so far! (But, I say again, time...)

7. Currently consuming: Speculaas and chocolate-mint tea. Probably should ease up a bit on the speculaas. But then again, 'tis the season.

8. Currently craving: Those delicious as hell lemon raspberry doughnuts that I had at Discovery Coffee when I was in Victoria. Amazing.

1. YOUR MAIN FANDOM OF THE YEAR?
Forever and always, Hetalia.

2. YOUR FAVOURITE FILM YOU WATCHED THIS YEAR?
Toss-up between Wolfwalkers, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, and The Seven Samurai. Nothing fannish, but these were all good.

3. YOUR FAVOURITE BOOK READ THIS YEAR?
Gideon the Ninth was this year. I'll have to go with that. There were many books that I enjoyed or found interesting, but I devoured this.

4. YOUR FAVOURITE ALBUM OR SONG TO LISTEN TO THIS YEAR?
I'll be honest, I've been listening to nothing much all year aside from various Lofi Girl hiphop beat 1-hour compilation mixes. The Soothing Breeze one is great.

5. YOUR FAVOURITE TV SHOW OF THE YEAR?
I devoured all five seasons of Poldark and wish there was more, so....

6. YOUR BEST NEW FANDOM DISCOVERY OF THE YEAR?
Locked Tomb! Oh my god. Like... it's not a fandom that I actively engage with much, but I do like the canon a lot, and a lot of the fanart is great, and all of the fic I've read (which hasn't been much, but -- some) was satisfying. So, yes.

7. YOUR BIGGEST FANDOM DISAPPOINTMENT OF THE YEAR?
Fucking Minna Sundberg and her 80-page chick tract. I'm still so damn sad and angry over this.

8. YOUR FANDOM BOYFRIEND OF THE YEAR?
Uhhh Michael Distortion from The Magnus Archives, apparently. I liked him in season 1 (which I listened to last year) but I didn't get to MAG 101 until this year, and well.... [/gestures vaguely, you know how it is]

9. YOUR FANDOM GIRLFRIEND OF THE YEAR?
Can I be BFFs with Gideon Nav, please.

10. YOUR BIGGEST SQUEE MOMENT OF THE YEAR?
Hard to pick one specific thing, but Hetalia resumed publication this year! We got SEA nations, and UK bros revealed, and some very good Estonia content that could be read as Est/Fin if you're inclined (I am very inclined), and also some great Rus/Can stuff that came entirely out of left field (I still can't believe that Canada sent Russia cookies and Russia called him a good boy.) So I guess you can say that this year, Hetalia has been one big extended squee. (Except for the Hetalia Collezione artbook notes, which were a mixture of dull, weird, and disappointing, and I think fandom has collectively agreed to ignore them.)

11. THE MOST MISSED OF YOUR OLD FANDOMS?
A Redtail's Dream. But I don't even want to touch it or SSSS right now. Maybe later.

12. THE FANDOM YOU HAVEN'T TRIED YET, BUT WANT TO?
More like "canons I haven't watched yet but Tik makes me want to watch them because he's so into them": Major Grom: Plague Doctor. Also Lupin III. (And Tik is also making me want to watch Columbo but so far I'm resisting)

13. YOUR BIGGEST FAN ANTICIPATIONS FOR THE COMING YEAR?
Nona the Ninth is coming out in 2022!
Also, more Hetalia. I'm looking forward to whatever nonsense Himaruya throws at us next.

I'm just rather glad that I actually have something to share, since I haven't been writing much. Snippets rather than just sentences, because I felt like it. Though I really do need to find some time to put more work down on these.

01. "He can't abide with the light," Norway said sharply. He set the lantern down on a nearby rock, the metal clicking against stone. In the sudden dark, he was invisible; but as she blinked, his outline slowly came into view, then the pale wash of his face. "It hurts his eyes, y'see."

"I see." Except that she didn't. "Just who is this –"

"A troll. Now if you don't mind, I'd rather not go gabbin' on his doorstep longer than necessary."

02. "Fine, fine," he said lightly, with a wave of his hand and a smile. It wasn't anything to worry about. "Go ahead, Nor. You can tell me now. What do you think about the union, anyway?"

Norway lifted his head, giving him a long look. The firelight cupped his pale face and made his dark eyes look darker in its dim glow. The flat line of his lips deepened into a frown for a moment, and then it was gone. Neutral again. "I'm tired," he said dryly, rising from his seat. "And I'm going to go to bed."

Link scrubbed a hand down his face and stared at him. "Really," he said. That was what he was concerned about?

"Of course!" As if that settled it, Ravio stepped over to the hearth. Bending to lift the cover on the pot, he gave it a stir, then stopped. "Well, and also there's the part about the inevitable doom and gloom and destruction of your princess's kingdom. Y'know. If you fail."

After dropping my info in the multifandom friending meme and the Anime/Manga/Videogames friending meme, I've added a few people. Looks like everyone's making intro posts, so I might as well hop on that!

Most of what you need to know about me is either in my profile or will pop up eventually, but anyway - hi! I'm yuuago/Yuuago (@LJ)/roesslyng. Here are 10 things about me-

01. I love coffee.

02. I'm Canadian! I live in one of the northern cities. (But not in the arctic... not quite.)

03. My work life is really hectic and leaves me without a lot of free time, so I'm not always able to comment on people's entries. But rest assured, I'm reading everything you lovely people have to say. Everything. (Wait, does that sound creepy?)

04. I go through periods of trying to learn languages, getting very enthusiastic about it, and then giving up when finding time to actually study is impossible. Whoops.

05. I write lots of fanfiction, and I never have enough time to write all of the things I want to do. Or even most of them. I used to write original fiction, but I currently don't. (Though I do have a few ideas, so maybe some day?) I went through a period of about two or three years where the only creative writing that I did was poetry, and now I have a love-hate relationship with that format.

06. I usually prefer to go into things without being spoiled for them (and sometimes, without even knowing what the basic idea of the plot/genre is) but I'm not going to raise a fuss if I do get spoiled for something.

07. Usually, I feel a little embarrassed about talking about things that I like. It's a problem. I'm trying to work on that!

08. It can take me a year or more to finish watching a single season of a television series. I don't do well with video formats; it's hard to carve out a slice of time to watch something!

09. I hate tomatoes. Passionately.

10. I'm not doing the December talking meme because I don't think I'll have time/energy to write that many entries, but if there's any particular subject you'd like me to write an entry about eventually, you could drop a note here or at my spam post.
