Yuu and his camera, again

Well, my body is still trolling me, but I'm starting to get used to it, I think. In any case, while the weekend was up and down and up and down, the first day of spring was pretty okay. I went out for a long walk on that day, headed down by the river. Things are starting to melt pretty nicely, though there's still a bit of mud in the brush, and it's still awfully muddy all over the place. But, when things start to clean up, it'll look mighty nice. At any rate, it's better than what went on back home - Fort McMurray got a few inches of snow on that day, according to my dad. Compared to that, Saskatoon sounds pretty nice, muddy or not.

Looking up through the trees on one of the streets near my house. Wow, lookit that blue sky. It was pretty gorgeous that day, I must say.

There aren't many hills in this city, considering it's Saskatchewan. Here's one of the few, though, looking down at the Saskatchewan river and downtown. Even though I've lived here a few years, I find it crazy how far you can see. Not anything like back home.

This house is right up on top of that hill, with the back facing toward the river. Bet that's an awesome view. I don't know what it looks like inside, but I bet it's pretty nice. And the backyard is huge, with so many trees in it! I love this house; wish I lived in it -- well, if I was rich, and could hire someone to keep the house up, and keep the gardens nice. Gorgeous though it is, that house is just too big for one person like me.

Just some graffiti on an electricalbox, and a weird poster that I see put up all over the place. I don't get it. Any ideas?

Another poster, on the other side of the box. I occasionally see silly stuff like this up around in the most random places. Stuff like this is part of why I love Saskatoon.

View across the river, next to the Broadway Bridge. I wanted to go down onto the bank, but it's still all muddy and icy in there, and I figured it wouldn't be safe.

More of the river, this time under the bridge. I find it amazing how blue the water looked that day.

And closer. It's always seemed strange to me that the river hasn't frozen up in winter. Only half of it freezes, the other half free-going. Back home, the river freezes completely, and in the spring it all breaks, and the ice heaves up onto the bank in enormous chunks.
----
Back in early October, I took some other photos, but never got around to editing 'em. Well, might as well put them up for comparison!

Another street view, this time with leaves. It's gorgeous down in there, though it does make a huge mess when all the leaves get dropped.

It's amazing how full of life everything was. I hope it'll be looking like that soon.

And across the river, this time from the opposite bank. If you look at the top of the hill right in the centre, you can see the back of that house I'm in love with.

And the riverbank again, this time from the top of the Broadway Bridge.
I really should go around to more different areas to take pictures. The thing is, though, I tend to feel a little silly when I do it. Saskatoon isn't exactly a tourist destination, to put it mildly, so someone going around with a camera is a little bit weird - especially if they're doing it in a residential area.
Urgh, I really should be in bed now, because I have an appointment in the morning. I'm not sleepy at all, though. Just my luck.

Date: 2010-03-22 05:40 pm (UTC)I'll be rooting for you! :C They better provide you with stickers and lollipops afterward, because WHY NOT.

Date: 2010-03-22 05:43 pm (UTC)I KNOW EH. I am seriously so over this. 8| Though lollipops won't be necessary. I just want to know WHAT'S GOING ON and CAN THEY FIX IT. Without it being too... invasive. (Not gonna lie, I'm starting to get a little worried.)

Date: 2010-03-22 05:58 pm (UTC)I'LL TRY NOT TO BE. I keep waffling between feeling like, "Well, SHIT" and "Just because the physiotherapist couldn't help me doesn't mean that it isn't a relatively minor problem that can be easily corrected after we figure out what's wrong". Still. Argh. ._.;

Date: 2010-03-22 09:16 pm (UTC)Oh I think what that poster means! It's depicting Bob Marley, right? My assumption may be a bit far-off, but I think they're trying to depict him as a rasist. Bob Marley wrote as we all now reggae music. Reggae spread the ideas of rastafari, which basically is a rasist ideology. And in the pic he's wearing either a fascist or a nazi uniform while doing the heil. So, yeah, the message must be "reggae/bob marley=rasism".

Date: 2010-03-23 05:36 am (UTC)And I can't help but find the lack of hills weird. IT'S SO FLAT HERE. I don't know if I'll ever get used to it.

Date: 2010-03-23 05:12 am (UTC)The reason the river doesn't freeze is heat pollution from the power plant. It uses river water as a coolant and recycles the hot water back into the river.
Also, no way anyone's going to notice you taking photos, or care. :) Be as much of a photographer as you feel like!

Date: 2010-03-23 05:33 am (UTC)And I guess you're right, nobody would notice or care. But it doesn't change that I just feel so weird!

Date: 2010-03-24 09:44 am (UTC)I LOVE THAT HOUSE it's like my kind of a house! It's really pretty and all, but doesn't look that big. But I guess it's really hard to take care of it anyway ;3;
Also, I totally love how the river looks... I love everything here, actually ;o;
Here the grass slowly starts to be more green and there's no snow or even mud anymore - at least in my neighbourhood. I remember the last time the snow fell, a week ago or so; the next day everything was covered with fresh white snow, but it was already warm, like 7*C and the sky was SO blue - it was so amazing! I wish I could take some photos, but our camera is broken. I WAS SO MAD. At the camera '3'
pffffff I feel the same about doing photos all around here, but idk, it's just so much fun I don't really care.
I do prefer to take my friends with me when I take photos though because then I don't look so silly, it's better when it's a group and all but then they get bored quickly and start whining at me to stooop and go do something else I just can't win
TL;DR I DIDN'T WRITE TO YOU IN A LONG TIME SO I WAS JUST BABBLING I'M SORRY

Date: 2010-03-24 06:03 pm (UTC)It might not look huge in the photo, that one, but when a person sees it in real life, you can really tell. SO BIG. I wouldn't want to have to clean it, haha. o3o
WE GOT A TON OF SNOW DUMPED ON US TODAY. SOB. It's like it's winter again and I don't like it nooooo o3o
[/fixes your camera with the power of MAGIC and LOVE]
Hmm-mm, yes, I bet going with a friend would make taking pictures less awkward - until they started grumbling. But I would go with you! And I wouldn't be complaining! ... because I'd be taking pictures too 8D
TL;DR I LOVE YOU TIK SO THERE
