Writing: I throw off a draft, put it aside, and then forget about it. It sits in my wip folder (either physical or digital) for years until I do something with it.

Knitting: I knit up a thing, put it aside, and then forget to block it. It sits in a bag in my closet for years until I remember that it's there and block it.

Drawing/painting: I do a thing, and then shove it in a folder and forget about it. Maybe months later I'll remember to scan it. Maybe not.

The similarities. They sure are a thing.

People are so different! I have many unfinished projects, but I tend to get bogged down towards the beginning (once the initial burst of enthusiasm wears off) or in the middle. Once I'm close to the end, momentum, and a desire to a) see it finished and b) share it, will see me through.

I think for me it's like, once the draft is done, my brain thinks "Yay, it's done! :D" even though it very much Is Not Done. xD

Oh man! I feel this 100% but especially the knitting and then never blocking/weaving ends. It's done! I am finished now! No need for anything more! I wish there were a setting we could just switch on for this, the "follow-through is missing" alarm or something.

I think the only thing that would work for me would be training my brain to consider "blocking" an essential part of finishing a work, like binding off or weaving in ends. ...which might not work because even weaving in the ends is something I neglect to do sometimes. :|a
