Frankly, I find it terrifying that things like this can still happen.

I'd comment more, but I'm too full of rage to really form coherent sentences right now. I'll just say this: This is the 21st century, and things like this shouldn't happen. But they do happen, as we see here.

I'd appreciate it if y'all spread the link around your FLists. I'll be on the lookout for more sources - this one was written only today, so maybe by Monday we'll have some better ones. I'll be updating this entry as I come across more. By the way, the linked article contains information at the bottom regarding contacting the county's paper, Press Democrat (owned by the New York Times), to do reporting on the issue. So far they have not reported on it.

Also, please write a letter to the local paper, the Press Democrat (owned by The New York Times) asking them to do some investigative reporting on the Greene v. County of Sonoma case. So far they have ignored the story.

Same here, shit. Unfortunately, the old are neglected and abused all the time. Just imagine how stage four bed ulcers can exist. A stage four bed ulcer forms when someone neglects a patient for so long that the flesh deteriorates enough to expose white bone.

It's disgusting. When you work home health, you see past or even current signs of it all the time and I can go on forever about this sorry.

i was linked to the same article sometime last night, and seeing it really felt like a kick in the mouth. especially seeing as this comes days after D.C. passed visitation rights to the partners of gay men and lesbians for nearly all hospitals.

seeing that mandate come from the White House was a step forward, and i was really hopeful about seeing more progress like that. but things like this incident, they just make me fucking disgusted. at the same time that the United States government is taking steps forward, people are still so cruel and heartless to do things like this.
