Today was a mixed bag. It started out pretty okay, though. Woke up, talked with a friend, had a good shower and just lazed around forever. Re-read some comics. Just fun stuff.

When mum came home, we went out for a while. In the car I ended up talking about my friends, and she ended up saying so many stupid and ignorant and sometimes kind of horrible things about the places where they're from. Needless to say, I got rather butthurt, but instead of showing it I did my best to explain the way it actually is. I did internally rage when she said "Nobody goes to Finland. There's nothing there." FUCK YOU I'M GOIN|G TO GO TO FINLAND AND IT'LL BE WONDERFUL. Though er, she doesn't know about my plan yet.

Around suppertime I mentioned that I wanted to watch the Olympic opening ceremonies, so we talked about that a while. I had heard a rumour that Rush would be playing, though I didn't know for sure. Me 'n my dad really hoped it would be Rush, though. I jokingly said that "Knowing our luck, it'll be Nickelback. Or even worse, Nelly Furtado". ... And guess who ended up singing at the actual ceremony. UGH. FURTADO. Fuck, I can't stand Nelly Furtado. I hate when I'm right.

But ahhhh K.D. Lang singing made up for it <3

I was going to go on a long rant about how much my mum angered me while we were watching the ceremonies becuase she kept making the most horrible, horrible comments about various places. But, er, I'll spare you that. I'm not in the mood for it. Especially because I was just looking through photos right now, and came across one of the Estonian team, and ahhhh their outfits are so so so cute. I want one of those snowflake jackets, man. (The cute Estonians make up for Finland's horrible fashion sense. Seriously, those coats - absolutely hideous. What on earth were you thinking, Finland? I am disappoint.)

I am so excited for watching everything, but mostly hockey, because ahhhh hockey. I know people keep saying "We have to get a gold this year, and it has to be in hockey". And true, a gold on our own soil for the first time would be great, especially if it's in hockey. But even if it isn't, I don't think it matters much... as long as the US doesn't get it. :| If we don't end up with it, I'd much rather see someone other than the US get it. Sweden maybe. Or even Russia. But, we shall see~

Well lately we've been sucking at hockey so I don't think you have much to worry about. We've won a few gold but that was a while ago. Let's face it, there are some sports certain countries just tend to be better at than others when it comes to the Olympics. I remember when I was a kid our local team, the Philadelphia Flyers, were only good because of Eric Lindros who is Canadian lol.

Oh man, my parents are just like your mom. Except worse. They instantly judge them based on their countries and it's just depressing. It's even sadder when they don't listen.

Winter Olympics! I can't bear to watch it. It just reminds me of all the snow I'm missing out on! Plus, I don't really know half the sports they're playing...

I was watching the opening ceremonies on WNBC, and of course when the Canadian athletes came out our commentators just went and said, "Oh, by the way, Canada has never won a gold medal at a home Olympics."

I mean, we would do that. Oh, America.

It could have been worse than Nelly Furtado, though. I mean, imagine if it was Nickelback. Nobody would take you guys seriously anymore.

... To be quite honest, I would've preferred Nickelback over Furtado. I did go through a stage of liking them in my teenage years when I had lots of anger and little taste. Plus, Albertan pride. And Furtado sucks like a sucky thing.
And nobody takes Canada seriously anyway. ;p

Aaaah, I really wanted to watch the opening ceremony, but it aired at 3 am here. You're so lucky you got to see it!
That said I really look forward to watching the Olympics, I can't believe we actually have a chance of reaching a hundred gold medals this year (since the beginning of the olympics that is), that would be so awesome!
I just hope it doesn't end up like Torino, that was painful to watch.

I'm sure you're going to do well this year though! At least in hockey and curling. I don't really know any other sports Canada are good in ^^;

And there's nothing worse than the Norwegian curling outfits, they look like clowns. Seriously. I thought it was a joke!

We finally got a gold at home yesterday, for the first time ever, so I'm happy already <3 (It was in freestyle skiing or something like that). I'm pretty sure we have at least one person in almost everything so there might be more gold to come, who knows.

Pfft, the Norwegian curling outfits - yeahhhh those were pretty bad, what on earth were they thinking, I wonder. There was even something in the newspaper about it. ;p Oh dear.
