Today we worked on deashi barai.

The main thing he emphasized is that you use the flat of your foot and kind of scoop the heel with it. If it's not a scoop, it won't really work.

I partnered with Ge. It's hard to work with her because she's so small, but we did our best.

Then TN-sensei introduced us to sumi-gaeshi. This is a counter for deashi-barai. But you need to have good timing; you need to do it before the foot makes contact with your foot. You bring your knee up high, bring your foot to the side, and sweep down in a circular motion to catch your opponent's foot.

It's really hard to get the timing right on that one.

I was kind of having a bad night; my feet hurt really bad. So, I sat out of randori. Hopefully once I start working on the techniques to help with my feet I'll be more in the mood to work harder at judo.
