Judo adventures 4.34
Jan. 7th, 2026 10:55 pmAttending: Me, M1, C & TJ, Mo, Eth, No & Chr, G, Ve, Ma & Jo & Ge. TN-sensei instructing, Ry-sensei and J-sensei assisting.
Today we worked on ippon-seoinage only.
He emphasized a few things. Firstly, that it's easiest when you have a lot of space to work with. It's hard to get up and under there if you are up close. So, you need to take a big step.
Secondly, your feet should end up parallel in the classic form. The taisabaki exercise that we do at the beginning of every class is practice for doing this.
And third, you don't bend so much; mostly you go down in a semi-squat.
I partnered with TJ. We managed to get a lot of practice in; it was good.
At the end of class, TN-sensei set a long term goal for the dojo: 10 new black belts. Obviously that won't be for this year; it will be for several years from now.
M1 suggested I'll be one eventually, and I was like, "Lol no". I explained that I looked up the requirements and decided that it's too much work. It's possible I will change my mind some day, but in the meantime, I am going to work on doing less judo.
