TN-sensei taught us a very simple drill for footwork. You stand with a centre line between your feet. You step forward with your right foot across the line, plant your left foot as you would for doing a throw, and then turn. You should end up with your feet straight, centred, with the line between them. Good practice for foot placement, and also good practice for balance. We've done similar before but more elaborate - typically involved going into a squat as if to actually throw. This simple version allows for practice with less physical effort. Very practical.
We worked on tomoe-nage today. We tried the standard version, where you throw the person over your head as you go down, and then we tried a more sideways version, where you basically do a sideways breakfall and throw your opponent diagonally. Both are tricky; it's not my favourite throw but I do need more practice with it.
And then a few rounds of randori. I worked with G. It was just light, no problem.
I'm glad I feel well enough to go to class again.
