We started off with defense. When someone reaches, you can block - and this leaves an opening that you can turn into a throw, such as ippon-seoinage, ogoshi, koshi-guruma, or makkkikomi.
We did practice just blocking, and then turning it into a throw.
Then we worked on arm bars for a bit. And defense against. If someone if trying to bar your right arm, you can block with your left - push against their leg when it comes over, and then that will give you room to bring your arm down.
I was working on this with J-sensei when he tried an unfamiliar angle and my elbow made a pop sound. It felt kind of like when you crack your knuckles, except that it was my arm. And it hurt after. And it still hurts.
J-sensei said to put ice on it, so I'm doing that. I don't think anything is broken, but I am still concerned, and will be going to the clinic after work tomorrow. I'm very disappointed because I had been planning to go to a pride history lecture at the library after work. But if I have to go to the clinic I don't think I will have time for that.
I have a feeling that I will have to sit out class for the rest of the season + summer. I had been hoping to reduce my attendance a little, but this is not what I had in mind. Also, this will probably require scheduling physiotherapy appointments, and that will be a pain in the ass. On the upside I think work will be accommodating as long as I can do it ahead of time.
