Today was almost all throwing.

We started off with reverse-seoinage. Judo Alberta recently changed the rules on this one, and now it's allowed in competition. In standard grip, you have right hand on lapel, and then you grip the same lapel with your left hand, left hand above and inside. And then you rotate away from your opponent. This sends them up over your back, very dramatically. This one has the potential to be hard on your wrists, similar to how morote can be hard on the wrists. I also find it easier if doing it as a drop.

One of the reasons this throw was originally banned is because it has the potential for serious head/spinal injury. It looks impressive, but it's not something I can see myself pulling out often when not practicing with a crash mat.

We also worked on grip breaking etc. I still find this very challenging.

I partnered with Ri-sensei for all this because that's how the numbers shook out.

Toward the end, the others were doing randori, and me and Ri-sensei worked on yoko-wakare for a bit. This is a sacrifice throw. You put your legs through and sit, almost as if doing a sideways breakfall, in order to bring your opponent down. It's a blue-level throw, and very different from what we usually do. I find it interesting; might need to work on it a bit.

M1 was upgraded to blue belt. He'll be going to nationals. Good for him!

T-sensei asked me if I'm going to nationals as a spectator. I told him not sure, will need to talk to VP and also work. To be honest, I'm not sure if I want to go. I've just been very busy and tired lately. But it sure would be interesting.
