Today we worked on tai-otoshi and variants. I partnered with C; we went up and down the mat. D had us work on standard version first. After that, a version where you switch to left handed lapel and push. Procedure: Rather than gripping the right lapel, grip the left one. Push your partner back; then pull them in and simultaneously step to the side for the tai-otoshi. Basically, this is to psych your opponent out and confuse them, while putting them into a position for the throw.

The second variation involved going sideways, rather than the standard pulling back. You sweep sideways, and when you are going to turn in, steps are: the foot in the direction you're throwing faces the direction you're throwing. Switch to the left lapel. Push - this will send them diagonal - and then pull and step in. So, you end up throwing them kind of diagonally rather than forward in the standard way, but the stance is the same.

No judo on Thursday, unfortunately. The cancellations are a bummer, but it is what it is. :V
