Judo adventures 2.47
Jun. 6th, 2024 10:24 pmAttending: Me, V-chan, L, and a new guy, Ed. T-sensei instructing.
T-sensei likes to work on form, and there was some of that today. Since we had a new person, we started with groundwork.
T-sensei talked a little about kata first, and how you need to know it for getting your black belt. None of us are close to that, but he figured he'd introduce the concept now, because it's useful to know something about it earlier on.
He had us go through the basic hold-downs - focusing first on getting the form right, and then secondly on speed. Form is important in general, but for competition, you want speed.
After that, he had us do a roll into an arm bar. And after that, a roll into a choke. I don't remember the names for either of these, and the procedure is a little fuzzy. I know we've done both of these before, though.
Hopefully the new guy will come back; I'm curious how he'll feel about throwing. :)
All in all, it was a nice, low-key class.
