Judo adventures 2.38

Attending: Me, A, M, M2, Kz, C, V-chan, Co, Ma, and F. Sensei instructing.

Groundwork today. We started off with sweeps; scissor sweep and two other variations of the same. Been a while since we did that, so it was nice to revisit some basics. I partnered with A for that.

After that, Sensei had us work on some... other kind of move that I don't remember the name of, but is more often done in jujitsu. I partnered with F for that, but we weren't really able to get it right; it's tricky and none of us have done it before. It's a technique you can use if your ankle is trapped; basically you plant to the side - opposite the trapped ankle - then roll over the shoulder on the same side as the trapped ankle. This should bring your opponent up and over and put you in a position to do something.

After that, a few rounds of groundwork randori. I partnered with A for a bit, then V-chan. Got my ass kicked, of course. :V

Apparently that surprise group that showed up on Wednesday also showed up on Thursday. I'm glad they enjoyed the class! IDK if they'll come back on a regular basis, but we'll see.
