Judo adventures 2.20
Feb. 12th, 2024 11:14 pmWe have the judo club's sign up on the front of the building now. It looks pretty good!
Attending: Me, M, M2, D, A, V-chan, Kz, H, C, SJ, and various. V-sensei instructing.
Pretty much same as previous classes. 100 uchikomi, grip breaking, then throws on the crash mat.
I partnered with D for the uchikomi. He helped me with my form; had a lot of good advice, which I unfortunately forgot as soon as I got off the mat. Though if I try to remember, I think it was... grip higher, stronger. Lift more. And also, when doing a forward throw, apparently I tend to go down too deeply - so I need to work on not bending so much.
Grip breaking with A; nothing new there. We worked on it for a bit. Then we worked a while on the crash mat throws. After A got tired, I worked with D again.
He worked me through ippon-seoinage, ogoshi, and koshi-guruma. Lots of focus on form correction. Very thorough! It's something I want to work on, but normally I don't get an opportunity to work on it in such detail. We'll see if any of this sticks.
The club is offering private classes on weekends now, and D will be teaching those. I think he'll be good at it!
