Judo adventures - Summer session 03

Small class today. Just me and M2, with F instructing/supervising.

We did review of previous class. Bow and arrow choke, which I kept having trouble with for some reason even though we've done that one a lot. Also americana + camora + variations. And the throw we learned last week, the name of which escapes me.

The one we learned last week was - you go in almost as if it's an ippon-seoinage, but instead, you do a foot sweep. You step back, pull opponent's sleeve with their left to make them step, and as they're stepping, you go in and sweep with your right foot (sweeping their right foot/their foot on your left).

Also worked on morote-seoinage. Kept having trouble with that - my wrists and grip were not cooperating today. And we also did a variation/setup where you fake as if to go for an ouchi-gari, and while they're reacting to that, go for a morote-seoinage instead. I can see how the process works, but I don't think I'd be able to pull off something like that in randori.

VP was not in class today, and the reason for that (according to F) is she's working on the process/negotiations for getting us our space. I guess there's a lot of legal/financial stuff that needs to be taken care of. The papers aren't signed yet, but we're getting closer...!

It's possible there will not be class next week; we'll see. (Kind of hoping that it will indeed be cancelled - I have a lot on my plate right now.)
