Attending: Me, J, L, M, M2, Ke. Sensei instructing.

Throwing class today.

Not typical throwing, though. We did two different "throws" that involve grabbing hold of the lower body to unbalance. According to Sensei, this sort of thing used to be valid in competition, but as of (IIRC) 10-15 years ago (ish) it's no longer valid in competitive judo. He said that this thing is seen more often in wrestling - I think that might be why he chose to work on it today, since we had some of the wrestling guys with us and they'd be familiar with that type of thing.

These mainly involved very specific scenarios/setups, but they were still fun to do.

Procedure for the first one: Right hand at lapel; left hand free. Opponent only has hold of your right sleeve. Drop low and pull them down; when they try to go back up, reach with your left hand to grab hold of the ankle to your right (your right, their left). Take hold of it, bring it to your left hip, and go up; it might take a couple hops or two, but they'll go down.

For the second one: Opponent makes the mistake of reaching/taking a large step forward with their right foot. Scoop the leg up with your left hand; step forward with your left foot, then use your right foot to lift their leg (the one on your right/their left) to send them down.

Partnered with J, who really wore me out, whew. (TBH right now I'm ready to drop). It was a fun class! <3
