Judo adventures - Class 36

Attending: Me, L, Si, M, and J. T-sensei instructing.

I was paired with J all through.

This class was pretty much same as the previous one, except that we spent a larger amount of time on practicing proper form and technique for setup and entry to throwing. T-sensei wanted J to focus on speed (I dunno man, dude's pretty damn fast already! :V ) and as for me, I just need to uh... focus on doing it mostly right most of the time.

Throws we worked on: same as last class - ippon seoinage, morote seoinage, ogoshi.

We toyed with the idea of trying another - J was at some kind of judo training camp recently, and he had been working on technique for a throw we haven't covered. It's either similar to or the same as that very fancy one that Se taught him, where you grasp low on both of your opponent's sleeves and use that to throw them. I'm pretty sure it's the double sleeve variation of sode tsurikomi goshi, or something similar. It was quite a shock the first time he used it on me several weeks ago, because the grip breaking movement required to set up for the sleeve grip is very dramatic, and then the throw itself is so elegant and stylish (when executed properly). ...Anyway, we ended up not working on that, because T-sensei wanted us to focus on the others. ;V Maybe next time.

We ran overtime, which I don't mind per se, but now it's hella late and I'm hella tired... whew.

Forgot to mention - last class, L asked me if I'm thinking about participating in any competitions, since I can do that now. Haa... no. Mind you, if there were something local, I would consider it! Just for fun. But like, the closest one is five hundred kilometres away, and takes place at the busiest time of the work year. Participating in that would require too much of a time commitment, even if you're just talking about travel time alone. ...And also I've been a yellow belt for all of five minutes. I'm not going to go all the way to the provincial capital just to get my ass handed to me, geeze. ;V
