This recipe was passed to us by a family friend when I was a kid.
Swedish Ginger Cookies
Preheat 350 degrees.
Wet ingredients
1 cup margarine/butter
1 cup white sugar
1 egg
3 tbsp molasses
Dry ingredients
2 cups flour
1 + 1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp cloves
1 tsp ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
Steps:
1. Cream margarine/butter. Add sugar, mix. Add the rest of the wet ingredients, mix.
2. Add dry ingredients, mix.
3. Roll into balls (~1 tsp size or larger). Roll balls in sugar. Press gently with fork, add sprinkles if desired.
4. Bake at 350 for 9-12 minutes depending on oven.
We make these every year, and they're great. They're supposed to be slightly soft, but even if you leave them in a little too long, crunchy ones are nice too~
