[Recipe] Chocolate truffles
Dec. 23rd, 2020 12:33 pmI spent a good chunk of yesterday making these candies, so I figured I'd share the recipe. :D They aren't complicated, but they're time-consuming - nice for when you're home from work and it's too cold to go outside.
Ingredients:
- 1 3/4 cups semisweet chocolate chips
- One 300 ml can of sweetened condensed milk
- 1 tablespoon vanilla (or rum, or orange liqueur, or amaretto, etc)
- Sprinkles to roll the candies in. At least one full ~113g container, preferably more just in case. Coloured sugar sprinkles stick very well; hundreds and thousands sprinkles look cuter, but don't stick as easily.
Note: the original recipe calls for ~414 ml can condensed milk and 3 cups chocolate chips. The version I posted above accounts for what size of cans are available to me.
To make:
1. Heat chocolate chips and the condensed milk in a small pot on low setting. Heat until everything is melted.
2. Remove from heat. Stir in the vanilla.
3. Chill for ~2h. Just put the whole pot in the refrigerator.
4. Remove from fridge. Roll into small balls - I use a 1/2 tsp measuring spoon to make them roughly uniform size - then roll the balls of candy in the sprinkles until completely coated.
5. Chill for at least ~1 hour. Recommended to serve them at room temperature (but they're nice cold too).
These freeze very well. They also make very cute gifts if you put them in nice packaging.
