As of today, I don't have a job any more. Fortunately, I knew this was coming.

My superviser emphasized that this is a temporary layoff, and that they'll take me back as soon as industry picks up again, but realistically we don't know when that will be. Though I do know that I'm a damn good worker, and they're probably telling the truth about wanting me back when possible. So.

Since I have plenty of projects to keep me busy for the time being, and not very many living expenses, I'm not going to worry too much about this for now, even though it's an absolute bummer.

No kidding! I'd probably be less bothered if I had at least a ballpark estimate of when I'd be back, but of course... [/gestures to the state of the world] Nobody knows anything at all! xD Oh well.

That's totally a bummer, though it's good that they emphasized that it's temporary! I think you're right to not worry too much about it for now, there's really no telling how things will turn out to be. (This is not reassuring, is it? Ahaha.)

I could be back in two weeks! I could be back in two months! All bets are off. xD BUT at least I'm not the only one in this position.

I'm going to do ALL THE THINGS that I normally can't do when I'm working! (Cleaning. A lot of it will be cleaning. D:)

While I'm excited for your projects and your keeping busy (:D!) I hope the whole industry and economy gets back on that horse soon once this is all over. But I think the countries that have been managing it better are those that show promise for quick bounce-back, so that's good news for Canada as a whole. Just - sucks right now.

It's kind of a tricky situation, because stuff at work was already slowing down a lot because of the global oil market, and now this. So... well, I don't know. BUT at least I'm doing pretty well, all things considered. With so many things on the to-do list that I definitely will not get bored. ;)
