TV - Cowboy Bebop

Looks like Netflix will be doing a live-action remake of Cowboy Bebop (details here).

Normally, I'm not so much into live-action remakes of animated things, but I think I might give this one a try. I like the way the cast looks, for one. (Okay, I'll confess, Mustafa Shakir - the dude cast as Jet Black - is smoking hot and might possibly be having an effect on my desire to watch this thing, heh. And John Cho as Spike Spiegel ain't half bad a choice either.)

It helps that I'm not particularly attached to the series - I've seen it, and I liked it a lot, but unlike a lot of people, it wasn't a series that I saw ages ago and have nostalgic feelings about. I spent years hearing about how good it was, but I only saw it for the first time a few years ago. Definitely not a formative series for me.

So! Definitely curious about it. And cautiously optimistic.

Anybody else looking forward to it? :)

I haven't ever seen any Cowboy Bebop anything (for no reason? Just it's never happened?) but I am excited about John Cho, and the rest of the cast is very pretty.

Hopefully the actual show will be even halfway as good as the casting. :D

I may give it a try, depending on time! It's also a series that I liked but am not hugely fannish about or anything, and the cast does look great. :D

I think that "liked it, but not fannish about it" is a good place to be when it comes to this sort of thing. The lack of investment means that if it doesn't turn out as hoped, it won't be a huge disappointment. ...I think.

Count me in as one of the people who are drawn in because of the cast! I couldn't even make my way through my husband's DVDs of Bebop but I'm definitely there fore John Cho and Mustafa Shakir. Since both are stars in their own right I somewhat trust/hope in them to have liked the concepts/scripts that are out. I mean John was going to turn down Searching originally and had to be personally convinced by the director.
