Webcomics stuff + Finally, sunlight

I ended up finally caving and setting up a Patreon account so that I could follow all of the Small Trolls/Tistow/Year in Hereafter material. /shakesfist It's mostly the extra Small Trolls sketches that I'm interested in at this point. Happily for me, there are certainly a lot of those. I'm simultaneously delighted and overwhelmed - can hardly wait to have time to go through all of it this weekend.

But mannn, ahh I wish there were already more of this comic. Magically. Somehow. Because then I could come up with fic ideas so much more easily. It's hard at this particular point in time. This kind of thing makes me wish I actually enjoyed drawing; maybe if I did, I could do that instead. Alas! (...Maybe I should just scribble down doodles of Veeti all over my sketchbook pages until I get bored. His hair looks so fun to draw.)

Speaking of webcomics, I'm starting to actually get a bit interested in the SSSS updates again. My attention was kind of wandering for a while there. The showdown with the ghosts should have interested me, but it just left me cold, and I'm not sure why (maybe a re-read will illuminate things). Now that they're on the road again, I'm at least looking forward to what comes next. I really hope that they'll figure out a way to track down the Pastor within a reasonable amount of time - I want to see her again (I liked her) and it will hopefully resolve this ghost-train issue. Not to mention that the very act of resolving it, if successful, could bring up some worldbuilding things that I'm interested in - such as questions like, how do you lead souls to rest when they can't remember who they are? And so on.

...Aaanyway. It was super warm yesterday. I went for my first evening walk of the season, and it was so, so pleasant. I'm going to have to keep doing it, and as much as possible, because the fresh air is just so good for me. Spring might be kind of gross in a lot of ways - it's both muddy and dusty at the same time, and there's garbage everywhere because it accumulates over the winter and the pickers haven't been out to remove it yet - but ahh, sunlight! During the evening, finally! And no mosquitoes!

Ooo, Patreon! I've been tempted to get an account for some time now. There's an ASMRist I've always wanted to support, and I'd like to show support for Small Trolls/Tistow/Year in Hereafter (I have yet to read Tistow but it's on my to-read list.)

I know what you mean re: fic ideas for Small Trolls. Other than how Jáhko and Veeti first met, it was hard for me to think of anything else to request. Them doing magic would be great, too, but we haven't really seen much of how magic is done in that 'verse yet.

I definitely encourage you to doodle! It's a great way to practice and improve an art skill! :) Before switching majors, I remember half of art class being all practice sessions and basically just doodling and getting those hands used to making squiggles and lines of all kinds before we committed to anything serious. XD

And I hear you about sunlight. It's SO nice to leave work late in the evening and still see the sun out.

Yeah, I haven't read Tistow either. I think, like YiH, I'll save it for One Of Those Days when I need something extra to motivate myself to do basic stuff. xD

Yeah, fic is SO HARD. Though I kiiiind of have a little seed of an idea right now. I might need to let it sit for a while. This is actually something that the patreon sketches (some of which are visible!) have helped with. It might be easier after I read Tistow, too, since Small Trolls is canon for Tistow.
(Basically my idea centres around the fact that we know that Jahko eventually leaves Veeti to go to Tistow... and Veeti is not happy about it. :V) I SUPPOSE it depends on how much I mind inevitable jossing.

MAYBE DOODLING WILL HAPPEN. There's unfortunately always this voice in the back of my mind nagging me for wasting paper, but... fuck it, I'm an adult, I can buy more paper if I need it!

YIH: it ended at such a frustrating part, agreed! Just as the worldbuilding was getting Real Good, just when the Kalevalan influence was rolling in... I was following it at first a bit disinterested, then kept on reading anyway, and by the time of the sword making an appearance I was a big fan. IDK what happened there.

SSSS: I'm also interested in the soul problem, but I assume Pastor A is actually exactly what the situation needs. Icelandic mages don't send souls forward, Finnish ones do but they need that background info. However, a Christian... a Christian one's specialty is helping souls onward regardless of anything. So. I'm getting impatient and want to do exactly what Reynir just did, dang Lalli time to do something pls. D:

I KNOW EH. To be honest, I was similar - a little bit lukewarm at first, with YiH, and then when I hit the hiatus, I was kind of surprised at just how much disappointment I felt. But! At least we have a solid time estimate for when it'll get back on track.

SSSS-wise, I think it might be a little while before something... happens... with this. I keep thinking it'll move forward and then NOPE. But uh. Hopefully the current conversation will lead somewhere xD
