☆ It's starting to get a little too warm up here. The municipality has shut down all of the outdoor skating rinks, and my socks keep getting wet when I walk to the bus stop. I think there might be holes in my shoes. But I can't really bring myself to buy new ones until spring. I always feel kind of conflicted in mild weather like this, because yes, it makes spending time outside a lot more enjoyable, but... it's unseasonal, completely outside of the usual for January, and that's a bad sign. I mean, aside from the fact that mild weather means ice, we need the cold here for other reasons. I hope it snows soon - we need more precipitation, badly. And if it stays warm too long, the ice-road might become unsafe, and... I mean, I don't use it, but that would be bad. So many mixed feelings.

☆ I have two lightweight scarves in progress, and a bunch of yarn that I haven't done anything with yet. But I keep looking at more yarn, because I'm a dumbass who goes poking around in the fibre arts section of etsy even though I know that it's too easy to get tempted by pretty pictures of yarn. Terrible! I really should, uh, finish knitting these two things... and block them... and then use up the other balls that I have, first. But that's what everyone says, I think. :Va I don't even know what I want to do for my next project - I have some more scarf patterns that look great, but they're charted, which - bleh. I can knit by chart, sure, but I don't prefer it.

☆ I told myself I wouldn't do any more exchanges for a while, but worldbuildingex is in the nomination stages right now, and oh man some of the stuff that's been nom'd already looks really good. The worldbuilding prompts, and the fics that resulted from that, were one of my favourite things about Silent Night Exchange, and I see that there are a lot of good things in the SSSS tag for this exchange already. ...Maybe I'll just treat. I can do that. Right? (We'll see.)

☆ I was reading random YOI fic while on my lunchbreak and stumbled over this adorable Leo/Guang Hong story: one to make your heart remember me by Strikinglight (3k, G). So sweet! What can I say, I'm a sucker for Leo POV and using music to express affection. <3 Unfortunately, I don't often have luck finding work that's to my taste when it comes to this pairing because I tend to give up on even sorting through it... so this one was a fortunate find.

I kind of want to nominate/sign up for worldbuildingex for Marathon and Destiny, but I don't know what else I could offer that I could both match on and actually write. :( My fandoms are a bit limited these days...

Ahhh that's too bad. :Va Yeah, I'm kind of hesitant because of the required amount as well - I could write four fandoms, but can I do good worldbuilding fic for four fandoms? I really Do Not Know.

I think this exchange might actually be good for things like music videos or short stories, because those tend to have a lot of gaps to fill in and worldbuilding possibilities to explore. Maybe even poems if there are poems you like that have sff/magical realist readings that would be open to worldbuilding?

We're having unseasonably warm weather here too, and I feel the same way about it. On the one hand, I *really* don't want to have to drive in snow. But on the other hand...60F/15C in January, two weekends in a row and with every day in between having temperatures above freezing...it's not normal. It has been raining a lot of those days, so at least we're getting precipitation.

*runs off to read that YOI fic to avoid thinking about global warming*

I actually lined the wall of my clothes closet with those three drawer plastic storage carts to have a place to store my yarn. And I have a hamper of yarn in another closet. What can I say? I find it hard to pass up lovely yarn. I know I'll use it eventually. :-)

And I agree... I don't like knitting from a chart. It's just not my preferred way. I did it for that infamous skeleton illusion scarf that was popular several years ago, and it just reminded me I prefer written instructions.

OMG, I'd never heard of that skeleton illusion scarf - I just looked it up and it's right up my alley. *_* Now I want to make that... (But that would require more yarn. This is a problem xD)

Yeah, the 3 drawer plastic storage cart things do actually make good yarn storage. It helps to organize the yarn, and let me see what I have.

The skeleton illusion scarf is actually fun to make. I made one for my sister a couple of years ago. The only sort of pain in the chart. But actually, after I worked the first skull, and saw that I had read the chart right, I actually wrote out the chart was written instructions, so that for the rest of the skulls I just read the instructions I wrote. It was easier for me that way.

yarn is just so much fun to touch. but on the downside it's like walking into a bookstore. You can't leave without a book... you can't leave without at least one skein.... and I guess, this is how stashes happen :')
