Yeah, well
Nov. 24th, 2015 10:37 pm☆ I think this is going to be one of those weeks where I just kind of stumble through everything. That kind of thing throws off my groove, but speaking metaphorically, as long as I don't fall flat on my face, I should be okay. Yeah.
☆ That said, I have been making terrible life choices. Like staying up too late. And making icons even though I have other things I should be doing. (But I totally needed to icon Purrito from the most recent SSSS updates, you guys, I mean - seriously. It had to be done. I plan to do more. And the only reason I haven't uploaded one yet is I like them all, I CAN'T CHOOSE.)
☆ ...Since I'm on the subject, damn, does that cat ever need a name. Mind you, even when it gets one, I'm sure the fandom will continue calling it Purrito until the bitter end.
☆ I'm reading a pretty good book! But deets on that will have to wait until the Reading Wednesday entry.
☆ Kiiiiind of want to continue wordcount tracking after NaNo is over. Not full-blown, mind you, but - maybe the "100 words per day" thing. End result, 3k, is perfectly reasonable. And maybe I will continue to get stuff done. Who knows. Some days, I'm too tired to do much, of course, but usually I can pound out a paragraph of reasonably serviceable sentences, or failing that, pull a poem draft out of the air.
☆ On that subject - geeze, I've been writing so much poetry lately. I'm a little confused, but I don't mind this turn of events. Maybe reading the Kalevala got the juices flowing somehow? I don't know. Haven't discussed this much in recent years, but I have kind of a weird relationship with poetry. It all goes back to when I was doing a Creative Project for my Honours BA, and was told by my adviser (in much kinder words) that my original fiction is pretty bad, in fact it's kind of awful, but my poetry is decent and sometimes even good. At least by her standards. And that I should write poetry for my project instead of original fiction. I was KIND OF UPSET because I actually don't like poetry much as a medium overall, and when I write poetry I just kind of slap words together without thinking about it much, or at least that's how I felt at the time. I hate it less, now. That's a good thing. I think.
☆ ... And once again, I'm staying up too late. Oops. GOOD NIGHT, INTERNET.

Date: 2015-11-25 01:08 pm (UTC)Hadn't given thought to writing in Kalevala metre, but now that you mention it, maybe I should try it. It'd fit right in for this fandom. ... Though I've written precious few things in any kind of set metre at all, so I have no idea what the result might be like. :'D

Date: 2015-11-25 05:36 pm (UTC)And YES there is a fandom. We are small but enthusiastic. The fandom lives in kind of a bunch of different houses so to speak, different sites for different functions: the Disqus comments section on the update pages for update-related chat (obviously), Ao3 for fic, tumblr and SSSSForum for fanart, and SSSSForum again for like... general chitchat/worldbuilding discussion/getting to know people/etc.
Also AHH I'm so glad you're enjoying it! The art was one of the things that helped me fall in love with it. Ditto for the artist's older comic (though there has been a lot of improvement since then).
