SCREAM OF JOY

My copy of Book 1 of Stand Still, Stay Silent came in, and it's gorgeous!
I grabbed my camera and took a few quick photos of it - they really don't show just how beautiful it is, but I was so excited, I didn't take better ones. ... I also forgot that I'd ordered a signed book. And the postcard-sized prints. Nice!

Front cover! It's a beautiful matte hardback. I didn't take photos of the spine, but there is a design on it that will line up with future volumes. Cool!

The prints! I forgot that I'd ordered prints, but I'm so glad that I did. Each one is an illustration of Our Heroes in their natural habitat, so to speak. I'm totally going to put one into the picture frame that I have on my desk, but deciding is going to be so hard. Right now I'm thinking either Reynir + sheep, or the one with Tuuri + Lalli + Onni together. (I love the way Minna incorporated them together, it's such a nice illustration, ahhhh)

The bookmark! I've seen photos of the front side, which is a Nordic flags cheat-sheet, but I didn't expect this illustration on the reverse - and it's a pleasant surprise, because it's a smaller version of one of my favourites of the standalone illustrations.

As soon as I opened it, I immediately went flipping through to find some of my favourite pages. This one was super pretty in the web version, but oh man, it is gorgeous in print; my dim photo of it does not do it justice.

Another favourite illustration! I find it interesting how the horizontal layout was done here. The image is entirely vertical in the web version, and I think in that format it has more impact, but in the print version it still looks totally awesome.
I'm just going to go stare at this for hours, thanks. What a beautiful book. I'm so glad that I took the plunge and ordered it when the Kickstarter was going on, even though I hadn't read the comic yet and wasn't sure if I'd even like it. I had no idea that I would become so invested in it, and it's really nice that I have it now. Sometimes, it's worth taking a chance!
