I've started watching the Star Wars films. Going in the order they were filmed, because why not. The film that's coming out in 2015 looks like something I might want to see in cinema, so I might as well... go through the backlog.

No, really! I haven't seen most of them! Except for The Phantom Menace (which I loved) and Attack of the Clones (which I didn't) when they were in cinema. Other than that... I just never got around to watching the older films, since they weren't A Thing in my parents' household when I was growing up, and there's so much stuff out there I haven't seen....

Anyway. The first one was all right. It's kind of strange to know all the references, but at the same time be seeing them for the first time. Mostly, what I'm impressed by is the fact that for the most part, the special effects and other visuals still look good. Old, yes, but not bad.

And then, there's another thing entirely that I have my eye on. Kampen om tungtvannet, AKA "The Heavy Water War". It's a Norwegian miniseries about the Norwegian heavy water sabotage during WWII, and obviously it's very relevant to my interests.

It's been picked up by the BBC, but it hasn't been subtitled yet. So here I am, trying to decide whether to go ahead and watch it or... not. My command of the Norwegian language is, frankly, terrible. But this looks so exciting and I'm impatient! And it would be good practice! At least if I could manage to understand anything. But I would prefer to watch a version that I can understand, first....

Kanskje jeg kan se først episoden, og efter bestemme seg hvis jeg vil se det full serie på norsk.

I just looked through that article on the heavy water sabotage and it yes that seems like it would be a really good miniseries! (Another 'wow I had not heard about this' bit of history.)

Star Wars though! [Insert asffds you've never watched those films reaction here!] I did not enjoy Attack of the Clones. But I grew up on the original trilogy, mostly a video-taped Empire Strikes Back ...

Ah, I wish I could be watching Star Wars with you! ♥ I quite literally grew up on the original trilogy, so it would be fun to watch them with someone who hasn't. XD

I, too, was a latecomer to Star Wars. I finally got to see Episodes IV and V a few months ago, because Episode IV was one of the films on the sci-fi list of my brother's film class. I was also impressed by the visual effects considering when it was filmed. I will never be a diehard fan, but my friend's sister is a huge fan, like 95% of her blog is devoted to Star Wars. And she has a fanvideo with 6-figure views.

Does the Heavy Water War involve the roating/bouncing bomb or am I confusing one madcap WW2 shenanigan with another?
