Late-night babbling
Oct. 1st, 2009 02:24 amSaa. Why am I awake? Well. No matter, that. Not unusual. I'll try to be in bed soon, though, surely. Part of the reason I am still up in the first place is because I took a long time doing homework in the bathtub. By that I mean I was reading. It's easy to concentrate in there. The light is good, and there isn't anything to distract me except for the tub. I think maybe I should take baths earlier, and more frequently. Easier to get my homework done, yes, provided it is just novel-reading.
Lighting. That's one thing that bothers me about this apartment. The lighting in the living room is absolutely terrible. I avoid doing my reading in here. The light is better at the cafe, and that's saying something. I need a stand-lamp or something, that's what I need. Today one of the lightbulbs went out in the main fixture again. One of those twisty-ones, the energy savers, supposed to last a long time. Supposed to. Don't know if I believe that. Haven't lived here too long. Well, I'll replace it tomorrow evening.
On a completely unrelated note, I have absolutely no idea why anyone would buy pre-made whipped cream, unless they were making a lot of stuff for a lot of people. Making whip cream is not hard. Buy some whipping cream. Put cream in bowl. Sprinkle in some sugar. Then get out your electric mixer and whip until stiff. DONE. NOT HARD. (Sorry for the rant, it's just - I was browsing through a certain comm and saw someone make reference to the fact that real whip cream tastes better and is easy to make. NO SHIT, SHERLOCK)
Also unrelated: A while ago I discovered an almost foolproof method of killing spiders without touching them. Spray-on furniture polish, the kind that comes in an aerosol can. The foam immobilizes them, and after that it isn't long before they're dead. I can't stand spiders, and unfortunately autumn is when they start coming into my house. I don't care if they're outside, but when creepy-crawlies are in my house, shit gets personal. It certainly doesn't help that I sometimes get spiders the size of Toonies crawling around in here (for the non-Canadians, Toonies are our FECKIN' HUGE two-dollar coins).
Mm. I've been kind of up and down all day. Faced with repeated, though slight, bits of melancholia (again). Nothing significant though. Need to keep a record of this, of course, so that things don't get out of hand.
... But there were some small things that made me happy. So, it's fine. It's all fine.

Date: 2009-10-01 01:43 pm (UTC)Mmmm... real whipped cream...
I kill ants with windex. It allows me to nab the ants and the crumbs that attracted them in one swipe. Plus I think it might disturb the chemical sent patterns they leave behind to guide other ants.
