I've been really lax about responding recently. Sorry, guys. Mostly I guess it's because I've been a little down in the dumps. Maybe it's some sort of start-of-the-year gloom, I don't know. In any case, I'm going to try not to be so antisocial.
Had my second class today, on historical novel and historical film. I was very uncertain about this class because I've never taken anything related to film before, but I think it's going to be pretty okay. It might be difficult, but hell, I've taken classes about weird things before. If I can manage to make a convincing argument about social critique and class criticism in Moomin comics (as I did in a course I took on comics as literature) then surely I can figure out a way to say something remotely intelligent about film. This class is going to be a bit heavy on the Bakhtin, and previously I've only read his essay on Rabelais re: the carnivalesque, but I don't imagine I'll have to much trouble with the theoretical side of things.
Tomorrow is the CanLit class, and to be honest I'm kind of nervous. There was a ton of reading that I had to do, and though I did do it, it's very likely that I won't remember a word of what I read, and won't be able to form a coherent, intelligent thought about it either. Bummer. Bad start. But hopefully it won't be too bad. And even if it is, well, it'll only be 2.5 hours, and then I'll be free.
I found out that I'm losing my office, so tomorrow afternoon I'm going to have to go there and clean out my things. Sigh. This makes me wonder what I'll do about my boots and coat and things in the winter. I think I might get a locker. not sure though. It's just really uncomfortable to be lugging around a thick winter coat all the time, you know? Not to mention I'd need to change shoes, because while my boots are excellent for outside, the insulation makes wearing them inside way too warm.
A short while ago I was kind of sulking about the fact that I'll have to go to school on Equinox. Now I'm pretty much over that. It's not such a big deal (it's never bothered me before - why should it bother me now?) and furthermore, I have medieval class on that day, so that's a pretty big treat. I still kind of wish it fell on a day when I won't have school, but that's just how it is.
I've been kind of flitting back and forth as far as writing goes. I've been thinking of a project that I'd love to have finished in time for November 11th, but to finish it by that date would be rather ambitious... ach, I dunno. Guess I'll have to think about it more, I guess. Need to try to get my other projects done as well. I've been working out time-lines with the Union thing, still trying to figure things out. Right now I've run into a problem that I get sometimes - I know how it starts, and I know how it ends, and maybe some other stuff that happens along the way, but in the middle there's this huge blank space with the label "here there be plot". So, er, I need to figure out wtf to do (or wtf I had planned to do before forgetting what I was going to do). I guess that's the problem with trying to cram so much time into one story.
Well, whatever, I'll figure it out.

Date: 2009-09-10 06:13 pm (UTC)Also when I cleaned out my stuff, I ended up taking a silver compact with two mirrors in it by accident. I can't remember if that's yours or if it started in the office originally? Tell me if it's yours and I'll put it in your mailbox.
