The Bigass Saskatoon Photo Post

Righto. So, I said I'd take some pictures. This time, I ACTUALLY DID IT. Mostly because I wanted to make my darling Tik happy. ♥ Yes.
Most people think Saskatchewan looks like this:

... And it pretty much does. But Saskatoon doesn't!
The city of Saskatoon would like you to think it looks like this:

The reality is... a little bit different. Neither quite as boring, as a big wheat field, nor quite as exciting as the above photo would like you to believe. Allow me to show you, my loves. :|
So. Here we go.

Good day~ This is
yuuago, your friendly neighbourhood dude. Today I'll be taking you on a tour of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Aaaactually, it'll just be a small bit of Saskatoon, around the area where I live, because I'm too lazy to go too far out. So! Here we go.

Lydia's Pub on Broadway, down the street from where I live. Occasionally you'll find buskers outside of it during the daytime. There were some there today.

Turning the Tide; one of the locally-owned bookstores. They have lots of weird hippy-dippy anti-establishment stuff. Sometimes the profs at the university order the books from here instead of the university bookstore.

Painting on a door at the rear of Turning the Tide

Can't remember these locations, but they're relatively close to my house, anyway.

Some old school close to where I live. :|

View toward Broadway from a side street

One of the corners on Broadway; this one is a popular place for buskers.

These poster thingies are all over the place. Pretty awesome. The thing on top of it is the Broadway logo; it's a cat, though you can't see it too well here.

The Broadway Theatre. It's both a cinema and a stage theatre.

Just a general view down Broadway avenue

Painted thingies like this are all over the city. I'm not sure what they are exactly, but it's pretty cool. This one is close to the Roastery.

The Broadway Roastery. This is a locally-owned cafe where I spend a great deal of my free time. In fact, I mention it so much that
bizzu has become convinced that their coffee is some sort of magical elixir. maybe it just has addictive properties. At all hours of the day, it's incredibly busy, and frequently there will be people playing guitar or African drums outside of it.

The back of my building, and my alleyway. It's like the busiest alley in town; at all hours of the night there are cars driving by and people walking through it. Occasionally drunk people will gather in it and sing or play guitar. :|

"Five Corners" at Broadway, where the Broadway Bridge meets Broadway Avenue.

View of Saskatoon at night

And Saskatoon at dusk. You can't see it too well here, but that bridge lights up in various colours at night.

And that same bridge in the day time, as well as part of the park under the Broadway Bridge.

Tour boat on the Saskatchewan river

Stairs leading down to a walkway under the bridge

And a view from under the Broadway Bridge.

View of downtown and part of the Broadway Bridge

And more of the same, but looking more directly from Broadway.
And in the other direction we have the river, some more of downtown, and the Delta Bessborough Hotel.

And more of the same.

Aaaand one more shot of the hotel, because it's pretty.

The park on the downtown side of the river. The fountain looks much more impressive when it's actually turned on.

View across the river from the downtown side. Up on that street there is where a lot of the rich people live and such.

The Vimy Memorial Bandstand. This is on the downtown side.

View toward my side of the river, from the downtown side. The rocky area down by the bridge is where a lot of people go to do graffiti and such.

Inukshuks down by the river, made by some random passer-by.

Various graffiti down by the river

This one was way cool, but hard to photograph.

Close-up. Now, if only they'd spelled "engage" properly....

Gopher! They're all over the place. They're cute, but they're absolute pests, and their holes are all over the parks.

The Canadian flag and the Saskatchewan provincial flag. You can't see it too well, but that's supposed to be a prairie lily on the Saskatchewan flag. They grow in Alberta too.

Some part of the downtown area; can't remember which streets.
Aaaand that's all. I would have taken more pictures, but I got lazy, and I figure that now this post is huge enough already.
Now you all know that I don't live in the middle of a wheat field. :|
