Had to make a trip to the bottle depot today, and while I was down in the industrial area, I decided to go looking for a geocache that I knew was somewhere around there.

The coordinates took me down a walking trail that I've never been on, sandwiched in between the back of the warehouses and some greenbelt in front of the riverbank. It's actually a pretty nice area, even if it's a very, very weird place for a walking trail. I think the logic behind its existence is that, theoretically, people who work in the area could use it during lunch break etc. But - well. Nobody who works down there gets a lunch break long enough to allow for a walk, if you know what I mean. ...Anyway.

This one had a bunch of DNFs in the log, so for weeks it's been on my "Maybe I'll go looking for it, but it might not even be there any more" list. But recently, someone logged it as found! Hooray! The knowledge that it was actually there and in good shape was encouraging.

It was a miserable day for a walk, very cold, but I did find it! It was a magnetic micro attached to a really clever wouldn't-think-to-look-there spot on a municipal trash can. This leads me to think of another geocache, also described as a magnetic micro, that I had to log as DNF because I couldn't find it no matter what. If it was attached in the same way that this one was, I'll be able to avenge that DNF pretty soon. :V

For the Wonders of the World stamp challenge: this brings me to 6/7 of part 1. The final stamp that I need - I've taken a look, and there are five caches in town with that designation. One was a DNF for me. Two haven't been logged since 2020. Two more have nothing but DNFs in the recent logs. All but one are in bear-risk areas. Iiii'm probably going to have to wait until after we get some snow to look for any of these, aren't I. :|a On the upside, it'll probably just be a couple of weeks, and I'm so damn busy that I don't even have time to be fussed over it.

Potentially useful: A guide for requesting art in exchanges by [personal profile] chacusha.

It's a pretty thorough run-down of what kind of information is helpful in art requests. Details that are useful for a fic writer aren't necessarily something that an artist can use.

Of course, since it's just one artist's thoughts on the thing, it's a 'your mileage may vary' post, but most of the things on this list are suggestions I've seen in other discussions.

I don't do fanart, but I enjoy it a lot, so I do request it most of the time in applicable exchanges. Usually I don't have much difficulty figuring out what to request, but it'll be helpful to have a list of things to keep in mind so I can up my chances of receiving an art gift. ;V
