Here, have a Project Hail Mary fic rec: Without a Doubt by Voidknight.

Grace & Rocky gen, 18k. A very fun exploration of Eridian languages, linguistics, and culture. I thought that the author did a really good job of illustrating the dynamic between Grace and Rocky. Also, their worldbuilding ideas about Eridian grammar were really interesting!

Definitely worth a look; I'm really glad I took a moment to read it - it was a really fun time.

The author's summary is an excerpt from the first chapter:

Petulantly, Rocky says, “Grace sound stupid. Like child.”

“I’m just talking how you talk, buddy.”

“Yes. This is because I talk like child, to speak to stupid human.”

“Well, you don’t have to do that,” I say without thinking.
