[Hetalia] Whoo, new character

So the latest strip has Brazil!

I like his character design. It's cool that we finally have this character - I get the impression that a lot of people have wanted a design for Brazil for a long time. And it doesn't look that different from a lot of the fan designs out there.

Unfortunately, the storyline is still the gangster AU, and I have no idea what's going on these days. I kind of stopped paying attention after a while, because I'm just so not interested. It was kind of fun at first, what with the alternate costumes and so on, but like... I'm here for regular-flavour Hetalia, that's all.

Anyway! Hopefully we'll get more Brazil later on. In regular strips, thanks. And maybe also a colour illustration, plz & thank you.

NEW CHARACTER!!

Agree that lots of people have wanted a design for Brazil for a long time but I'm also glad to hear he looks a lot like the fan designs!! If we had had not just a new character but specifically Brazil like 10 years ago, people would have lost their collective shit. (it's me, I'm people)

Man, I hope he goes back to the non gangster AU at some point...

No kidding! I'm imagining what the reaction would have been 10 years ago, and... ahh, man. If only.

Crossing my fingers that the AU will wrap up and we'll go back to, uh, something else. plz. orz

It's nice that Hima is still doing new designs after so many years of Hetalia! I can see why he wants to do escapism AU stuff these days, but I'd also prefer regular (or better yet, historical) Hetalia. Someday...

Historical would be so great. There are a lot of periods and topics that haven't been explored yet! I keep wishing he'd do Napoleonic Wars or something, not because I'm particularly interested in that but because I think it would be a great subject for some older-flavour Hetalia. But ahhh well, I guess we can just sit and hope.
AND ALSO introducing Brazil could have been a great opportunity to switch to something historical, literally any period, but I guess we're not doing that.
But hopefully fandom will pick him up and run with him. Or at least take the opportunity to bounce ideas around. (To the library!!)

Napoleonic wars would be fucking awesome. (I think Hima did some strips in 2010-ish that touched on it, but we could always have more cakes). Personally I want 19th century Nordics because so many developments during that century precede the specific dynamics we have today. More SuNor materials would be nice too.

One can only hope that some day Hima will fill in the backstory for the Latin American countries, now that we're getting more of them. Similar to what he did with Southeast Asia, I think. But yeah, I'm not sure how likely is he going to do historical Hetalia in the near future. Fandom, do your thing!

Wow, that's so cool! It's been a long time since I read any updates but I remember what it was like when a new character was introduced.

Yeah, I miss those old times - back when new characters were introduced it was so much fun! And yeah, these days people are still excited, but since it's a lower amount of people and more scattered, the reaction seems a little subdued.
