The Magnificent Seven (2016)
Mar. 27th, 2025 09:20 pmWanted to watch The Magnificent Seven (1960) because I wanted to compare it to The Seven Samurai, but I accidentally borrowed The Magnificent Seven (2016) instead. Turns out that the library doesn't have the '60 version. Whoops.
One thing at least, the 2016 movie has Denzel Washington being very hot, so there is that. AND FURTHER it also has Lee Byung-hun being super fine and having mad chemistry with Ethan Hawke's character. Their relationship was Very Compelling I must say.
The villain was on a "cartoonishly evil" level, so to a certain extent it was hard to take that part of the movie seriously. But I was never bored. Also, the shoot 'em up scenes were pretty entertaining.
I wouldn't recommend it per se, but it's worth a look if the above sounds interesting to you and you have a moderate/high tolerance for westerns and everything that comes with them.
...And I'm still curious about the '60s version, but I guess I'll have to track that down via ILL or something.
