Attending: Me, A, Kv, TJ, Kz & Ma, M1, + miscellaneous colourbelt kids. Sense instructing and V-sensei assisting.
It was nice to see V-sensei again; he's been out for a bit due to work. We didn't get much time to talk though.
Anyway. We started with groundwork, doing camora when someone is in your guard. It requires that they put one of their hands down on the floor. Then you grab their wrist, reach over with your other hand and go over and then under to grab your own wrist for the camora position. This might require shifting so that you're on your hip (whichever one on the side you're grabbing). Then you shrimp to the opposite direction, which will make your opponent collapse, and gives you room to place their wrist on their back, at the belt, and then (slowly!!) move it up their back until they tap out.
I worked with A for this. There's also a procedure for camora-to-sweep; like if you try to do the above move and it fails, you can sweep them. But we only made a few attempts at that one because neither of us is particularly flexible, so we figured it would be better not to take any chances.
After that we did some upright work. Uchikomi, and then tai-otoshi onto the crash mat.
A little bit of randori at the end. Went with A, who kicked my ass. Went with Kz, who was Very Fun; I like working with the teenagers 'cause they're so easy to throw. Also did a round with TJ.
Apparently this weekend Saturday classes are starting up again. It'll be 16 and up, which is good because like... having the colourbelt kids on the mat is too much. There's only so much room. It's hard to work when you have to be very cautious about not running into somebody.
And of course I'm looking forward to class with T-sensei. So, hopefully it'll work out.
