Short thoughts on 3 films I've watched recently:

* American Hustle: I decided to take a short stroll through films featuring con artists, one of which was this. I thought it was pretty good; great buildup and satisfying payoff. Good costuming and good acting.

* Rush Hour: Well, that was... dated. IDK man. I liked the premise, but wasn't into the execution. Jackie Chan is great, though. I'll have to see what else the library has with him; I haven't actually seen many of his films. IDK if he's like, weirdly magnetic, or if I'm just hot for a good martial arts scene.

* I, Frankenstein: Frankenstein's monster joins up with an army of holy gargoyles to take on the ~forces of darkness~? Okay! Why not! I saw a trailer for it and was like, "I need to watch this immediately". 11/10 for delivering EXACTLY what they promised.

Oh man, I love Rush Hour but I suspect a lot of that is due to having watched it when it came out; I can say "this is definitely a product of its time" and leave it at that lol.

Yeah, Rush Hour is one of those movies I remember enjoying a lot at the time but haven't rewatched in ages, and that - is probably for the best... D: Jackie Chan fight scenes are always a great time, though!

... all right, I'm putting I, Frankenstein on a list to watch, that sounds like exactly the kind of silliness I need in my life. :D

I've seen bits of Jackie Chan's other films as a kid when the film channel replayed them, and they are dated, alright. Maybe that's why they are seen as so nostalgic?

I, Frankenstein sounds like such a fun premise. I'm glad the film lives up to it!
