Attending: Me, C, A. D instructing.

Started off doing uchikomi with C. Got some technique suggestion from D; he recommended treating uchi-makakomi as a side throw - rather than throwing forward, proceed like throwing to the side, or perhaps on a diagonal. Easier to get the recommended leverage, and that's pretty much where you end up anyway when you actually complete it.

After that, we worked more on the arm bar technique from last class. And then worked on a technique for getting out of the arm bar, which essentially requires creating enough space so that you can pull your elbow below where the arm is trapped - the person trying to perform it can't do anything if the joint is too low.

And after that D went through how to prevent the possibility of someone getting out of it; essentially you have to lock your ankles and keep your body as absolutely close as possible, so that there is no way for your opponent to create the space. He said that in Ukraine, they worked through a lot like that - everyone knew how to do the arm bar from that position, but also everyone knew how to get out of it, so it required strategies for preventing the escape.

T-sensei messaged me; we'll have an extra judo class on Saturday. I'm looking forward to it.
