Attending: Me, M, C. D instructing.
It was even hotter today than it was last class. I came in first, and it was a while before anyone else showed up; D asked me if I wanted to go through with the class if it was just me and him, and I said yes, with a focus on form. But then C and later M showed up, so I did have some partners.
During warmup, I tried to do breakfalls with the correct form that T-sensei showed me. I'm starting to get the hang of it. It's still challenging, but getting a little easier to at least have the correct finish. And very effective.
D had us working on faked footsweeps as a setup for forward throws. He mentioned in previous class that he doesn't prefer sweeps much, except as setup. I can't remember the name of the sweep we used, but anyway, you sweep your opponent's foot (on your left/their right) with your right foot, and then when they step away, go in for ippon-seoinage. I had some difficulty with the footwork at first; it's sweep, plant the foot (that you used to sweep), move your left, then move your right as you turn in. Four steps.
The second one we did was sweep as a lead in to tai-otoshi. This one is challenging when I'm working with C because I need to sink down so far in order to execute it. But not bad.
The third throw we did was some variation of the right-handed throw with left-handed technique, more complex than some of the others we've done. I don't remember it well enough to describe it.
D says that he checked the forecast, and that next week is also going to be ridiculous-hot, but next weekend (not this one coming up, but the next) should be more tolerable. Ughhhhh.
