I haven't been feeling too hot, so I decided to rest up and watch a really long film. Thus, The Godfather.
It's always an experience to watch the source material of something I've seen referenced and parodied a lot. Like, as soon as I saw the horse, I knew where that would lead, but the scene still played out really well regardless. And the cannoli joke landed, though I wonder how the experience would have been if I hadn't expected it.
This is a beautiful movie. I can't quite put my finger on what exactly I like about the visuals, but it looks really nice. I wish I had more of a vocabulary to talk about the cinematography in this; maybe I'd be able to understand why it looks so good.
It's 177 minutes long, but I was never bored. The drama! The storytelling! Riveted from start to finish. I guess you could say it's one of those films that's a classic for a reason. I'll likely watch the rest of the films in the series, though the when is undetermined. But I'm looking forward to it.
If you've been living under a rock like me and haven't seen this one, I do suggest taking a look. Though your mileage may vary depending on your level of tolerance for mafia bullshit, of course.

(And, well, I can join you in having too-high tolerance for mafia nonsense.)
