Judo adventures 2.30

Attending: Me, L, M, N, Ca & his kid Ma. Sensei instructing.

Ca was someone who came a month or so ago for one or two classes; he'd been doing jujitsu previously and wanted to try judo. But he injured his foot, so he had to sit out for a while.

Today was all groundwork.

First technique: when you're on your back/in guard, grab your opponent's lapel crossways - if using right hand, grab it on your left side. Then take your other hand (left) and push their head under the arm that is gripping the lapel. Pull with the lapel, push with the hand on their head, and it creates a powerful choke.

After that, we did a few other techniques - arm bars etc. Then some rounds with groundwork randori.

I worked with L. It was fun; he's like, bigger than me but not TOO big, stronger than me but not TOO much, more skilled than me but not too much to be intimidating, and we've been going to class together for long enough that I'm pretty comfortable kicking his ass if the opportunity presents itself.

Small class today, but we'll see how the next one goes. :V
