Judo adventures 2.13
Jan. 10th, 2024 11:04 pmAttending: Me, M, L, A, Se, V, + teenagers C, H, & V-chan. Sensei instructing.
Good class tonight! Very exhausting, though. Hard to remember what we even did, ha.
Grip drills; tried two different methods of grip-breaking. The two-handed version with sleeve was first. The other was the one where you cross over, grab them, and bring it down, while stabilizing your lapel with your other hand. I worked with C and V-chan for that.
After that, throw drills. Setups down the mat, then final throw. We did this with ippon-seoinage, koshi-guruma, and osoto-gari, using variations for each (mostly things like whether you go over or undreneath, etc). Worked with C for that. He's a good kid, fun to work with, and very good with judo - but he's so small that I'm always worried that I'll, like, break him, even when we're just doing practice.
Did some rounds of randori. C first, then V-chan, then H. I didn't manage to get a successful throw with any of them, but made some attempts, so there is that. I definitely went splat a lot. But it was fun! (And exhausting.)
Looking forward to next week's classes. I'm really glad that I went tonight, even though it was -40C. I really needed to let off some steam.
