I was looking through some of my old exchange requests. It's kind of fun to remember all of my season 1 shippy feelings!

And lol @ me with that "Yeah, these goofy romantic requests are OOC, but consider: it would be funny". 2019 me had No Idea what was coming, hahaha. <3 <3

Not gonna' lie, though, as much as I love sappy!G/B, the slightly prickly vision I had of the pairing post-S1 was hella fun, too. Well, I suppose if I ever feel like doing something with that, I can slap on a divergence label and call it good.

I'm not usually one for pairing names, but I was scrolling through tumblr and saw some people calling these two "Boxfly" or "Flybox". I kind of like it! Short, snappy, descriptive. Fitting. "Ineffable Bureaucracy" still wins, though.

Speaking of tumblr. I saw some discussion of, like, scenes that change meaning when you rewatch them knowing what's coming, and like... Ohhhh my god. Augh, I wish season 2 was out on disc! Because I sure would like to give it a rewatch, and I'm more likely to actually do it if I have a date that I need to return something to the library, ha.

But anyway, the main scenes that I remember seeing people talk about - that bit in Heaven when Gabriel's being told that he's losing his position. I remember thinking, "He seems to be taking the possibility of going to Hell pretty well?" And in retrospect, well, obviously.

And Beelzebub's search for Gabriel, on second look, is like... omg. Like. Frantically trying to bribe Crowley to help out? And this bit from the "is there any news yet" scene in hell - First watch? I thought that was a "My rival/foil has disappeared and, ngl, I'm a little Concerned that something like that can happen so easily, and more importantly if we don't succeed in capturing the enemy when we have the chance, the boss is gonna be Pissed". Second look? I just. Oh man. That is a "my boyfriend is missing, where the fuck is he?!! D:" look.

Yeah, I'm not over these two, apparently. :V I feel like my brain is just one big G/B shitpost. I haven't even gone looking for fic yet, but I really should. Eventually. At some point.


Anyway, if I end up doing the upcoming round of Chocolate Box exchange, there's a good chance I'll be requesting this pairing. :D

I also appreciated all the context when I was rewatching it, especially where Beelzebub's trying to bribe Crowley who is so busy trying to cover his own tracks that he doesn't at all pick up that they're being weird about it.

YES that's amazing. Both of them are wrapped up in hiding their own motivations so much that they don't realize that something is. Kinda. Off. It's brilliant. xD

They were so weirdly sweet! I do wish they'd gotten a bit more bickering/edge in the show, but - on the other hand, SO CUTE. (And I have childhood nostalgia for Buddy Holly music from car trips, so using that song definitely hit me in the feelings...)

Yeah, the lack of bickering is my One Slight Disappointment with what we got for them - then again, there's only so much you can cram into five minutes. ;) I bet their first argument would result in them being a couple of cactuses for a bit.
