Watched Cyrano (2021) this evening. A conversation with Tik about the play made me remember this recent musical adaptation, and I figured it was time to give it a try.
Did I enjoy it? Sure! I love the play, but I'm not a purist, and while I'm aware a lot of people didn't like that a lot of iconic dialogue was swapped out for songs, I didn't mind.
This film sure was pretty - the visuals, the costuming, all that. Peter Dinklage was great as Cyrano. Most of the music was unremarkable, but the "Every Letter" sequence was awesome (and kinda erotic). And Cyrano's spoken word poetry/rap during the first duel was great.
Was it perfect? Nah. But I had a pretty good time.

I've heard that the 1950 Jose Ferrer version is very good though, and have seen fans recommend it a lot; apparently it's public domain and up on youtube.
Anyway, the fact that you're interested at all delights me. <3
