I came across some notes for a Jonna/Riikka fic that I never got around to writing, and it reminded me that I had more femslash ships in aRTD and SSSS fandom than I did in any other. (As well as crossover pairings between the two. There was a Sigrun Larsen/Jonna Kuikka fic that I never got around to writing, either...)

I still like all of those old pairings, but at the same time, I'm still so grumpy about everything that went down in SSSS/aRTD fandom. So. That story isn't going to get written any time soon. I've put the notes aside for the future, though. Just in case.

Like. Ugh.

Recently I've been working on some F/F for another fandom, and realized how much I missed writing it. It's fun! Buuuut this one is using a canon AU in which all the male characters are female and vice versa, and it just doesn't feel the same somehow.

Oh man, sad fistbump to that. I've been poking at old aRTD gifts + bookmarks recently, and I came across old SSSS art when I went through sketchbooks the other day, and I've got some old notes too for drawings I'd wanted to do at some point, and it's all just, kinda bittersweet. (':

Still lotsa good feels there, just a shame how things went down. :\

Aughhh, no kidding. "Bittersweet" is a good word for it. I still love these pairings and the world but - ugh.

(I've been re-reading stuff too, including some things I wrote for you. <3 )

I really hope that one of these days, I'll have enough distance from what went down that I'll be able to enjoy it properly again, maybe even start something new.

Sometimes I think about how one of the fandoms I ship the most variety of f/f ships in is, somehow, Red vs. Blue, and just boggle... (Well, that and Destiny, but Destiny at least has had a decent amount of female characters from the get-go AND canon lesbians, while RvB is - RvB.)

But man, I know that soured-fandom feel. :/ It's such a bummer.

Based on what little I know about RvB, that IS surprising. :Va

For SSSS (and aRTD), the thing I can think of that causes me to ship F/F is like - not necessarily a lot of female characters in the main cast ('cause there isn't), but lots of female characters in the expanded cast, plus unnamed background walk-ons, AND an interesting world. So it was easy to grab a female character to explore the worldbuilding with, and also give her a girlfriend while we're at it. xD

I hope so too! I know I'd wanted to reread, before, and if/when that happens it'll have me again, but for now that's just a 'someday...' kinda thing. (':

I very much get that. I do have a few WIPs that I sometimes look at with a sense of longing, but... yeah. Or, maybe longing isn't the right word. Like... "it's a shame I didn't finish this back then, because it's a good concept, but I also can't see myself going back to do that now". It's a weird feeling.
