Man, the last week or so has been busy.
+ My birthday party was this past Sunday. Went pretty well overall, no complaints from me. The cake was amazing. :V (Very dense, very chocolatey!)
+ On the Monday, I went to a Pride YMM meetup. Not an organizational meeting, more like a "coffee and discussion" type thing. It was nice to get to know some people; will definitely be going to the next one. The two that I met at the kickboxing class usually come, but weren't at this specific meeting - but at least I know their names now (and probably won't forget).
+ Went to a tai chi class last Saturday. It was a group class down at the fitness centre. Not a regular thing; this was a one-off special. I've never been to a group class of that kind before, so wasn't sure what to expect. Anyway... it was a fun class! Tai chi is much more difficult than it looks! I am so uncoordinated! I'm glad that I got to try it, and if it was a more regular thing I'd consider giving it another go. The group class vibe wasn't really my thing, but it could just be that it was a much bigger class than what I'm used to seeing at judo. Too many people for my taste. :V
+ I've signed up for some online computer courses. Some MS office stuff - mostly I just want a refresher, because I'm a little uhhh outdated, shall we say. If this goes well, I'll likely try something more challenging (introductory accounting courses, maybe). In hindsight, I probably shouldn't have taken on two at once, but c'est la vie. We'll see how this goes.
+ And on top of that, I have a whole bunch of fic ideas that I want to write, and no time to do them.
+ I have so many events coming up on the to-do list. More fitness things I've signed up for, projects my family wants me to do, more meetups, fanbook stuff... and of course the classes. Last month I said "Carpe fucking diem" and decided to try a bunch of new things instead of sitting around all the time; now I feel like I'm close to being the dog who caught the car. Juggling all this stuff is going to be very interesting! (Aughh!)

Date: 2023-07-16 07:04 am (UTC)Happy belated birthday!!
Interesting to hear about your experience with that Tai Chi class — I've grown up hearing people say that moving as slowly and rhythmically as Tai Chi does looks easier than it really is, but never tried it myself lmao. Sounds like such is the case.
Good luck on all the things!! (Never heard of the phrase "the dog who caught the car," but will be incorporating that into my mental lexicon. :D)

Date: 2023-07-17 03:59 am (UTC)Yeah, that stuff you've heard about Tai Chi is 100% legit. At least based on my (very small and limited) experience. Fun, though. I can really see why people enjoy it/find it beneficial etc.
Thanks for the luck! I'm gonna need it. ;p

Date: 2023-07-16 09:55 pm (UTC)I feel the July/August busyness - everything is sort of coming to a head in these months. And they're hot months, to boot! I'm really impressed at how much stuff you do and go to, though. Busy it will be but that is the right way to do life and meet people and do fun shit and get friends 🤩️

Date: 2023-07-17 04:04 am (UTC)Yeah, lately it's like... if I see something interesting, and I can fit it into the schedule, I take that chance. I'm finally in a place in my life where it's possible to get out and do things and meet people (and maybe even make friends??) so I'm just going to like... try. And hey, what's the worst that can happen? I lose a few hours of my life? That'd still happen if I stayed home, so... :'D
