Movie short thoughts x3

Have some short thoughts on some films I've watched recently.
Cryptid (2022): Animal attacks in a small town? Not that surprising. But it's big. And it's strange. And a local journalist wants to get to the bottom of it. They did some interesting things with the monster; the design/concept is a little different from what you'd typically expect from this kind of premise. The execution of the film was solidly meh, though. It was trying to say some things about home and loneliness and depression, and those parts worked pretty well, but the final quarter of the movie kind of went off the rails. And it was so visually dark, half the time I couldn't figure out what I was looking at.
The Bell Witch Haunting (2013): Based on the story of the Bell Witch, which I did not know was a thing until after watching this. Premise is that a family moves into a house on property previously owned by the Bell family; supernatural stuff happens. It could have been interesting, but this film is hot garbage - don't waste your time. It's yet another forgettable found footage film that keeps up the camera act way beyond any point where it would make sense.
Footloose (1984): A teenager moves to a small town where rock music and dancing is outlawed; he immediately starts to shake things up. This was what I watched tonight, and it was the pick-me-up I needed. Very fun, some awesome dancing, and the music ain't half bad either. I can see why this is a classic. Would watch again.
