Hooray, my Mountain Goats tapes came in!

I ordered cassette tapes of Getting Into Knives and All Hail West Texas a while back, and they were finally waiting for me in the postbox this evening. Man, I wish Transcendental Youth had been available too (that one's my favourite) but still, I'm really happy with these.

My CD player is one of those old CD/Radio/Cassette deals. Until this point, my small cassette collection was all stuff I picked up secondhand when I was living in Nova Scotia (a little bit of Gordon Lightfoot, a little bit of k d lang, little bit of Melissa Etheridge...) Normally I wouldn't purchase tapes new, since the format has some limitations, but. Well. If there's any current music that would be suited to cassette tapes, it'd be The Mountain Goats.

I just think it has a sort of, as they say, ~lo-fi charm~. ;)

That's so cool that you got the cassettes \(￣︶￣*\)) If record collections can be cool, so can cassette tapes! Sometimes there's just something fun about that retro vibe.

NGL, I find vinyl fascinating too, though that's a level that I'm not ready to commit to. (It's easy to get into cassettes again when you still own the tech that you had back when they were relevant...)

I saw some audio set-ups over the fall that play both...would love to have one of those @.@ But you're right it's definitely easier when you already have the gear XD
